The one feature that can reduce your lighting costs by up to 80%
How much money could switching to LED lighting save your business?
As inflation and energy bills continue to rise, optimising your business energy consumption is more important than ever, particularly as we head into the winter months.
With further increases to bills expected this autumn, it has become vital for firms to ensure they are doing everything they can to reduce energy consumption and keep their bills as low as possible.
While there is a range of measures you can take to reduce your energy consumption, there’s one simple change that can save you money from day one.
Installing LED lighting across your offices, factory and other workspaces can reduce lighting costs by as much as 70-80%.
Recent case study
We completed a recent refit which was on a financed solution with a government grant that covered 40% of the installation.
This brought this client’s payback period down to 0.75 years and they were cash positive from day 1, meaning they saved more through having the LED in place that the cost of each monthly payment.
The initial LED re-fit cost totalled £15,000 with a grant of £6,000, meaning a total cost to the consumer of £9,000.
To avoid an initial outlay this client elected a financed option over 24 months, costing £400 per month.
The client secured a monthly lighting saving of £1,000 from the first month following the installation, meaning an annual saving of £12,000 on lighting alone.
Why is LED lighting so cost-effective?
LED lighting provides cost savings through two factors:
- The biggest benefits of LED light bulbs are their energy efficiency. An average LED bulb uses just 5 watts of power, compared to traditional incandescent and halogen light bulbs which use 40 watts.
- In addition, although the upfront cost of an LED bulb is greater than its filament counterpart, LED bulbs have an average lifespan of 20,000 hours, while a filament bulb only lasts for just 1,000 hours. So, 1 LED bulb lasts as long as 20 standard bulbs.
Why should you make the switch to LED?
As well as providing cost savings, switching to LED lighting can also help with your business’s carbon reduction goals. Switching each bulb to a bright LED equivalent can save around 5kg of CO2 emissions.
