Ireland bring legislation to ban new oil and gas exploration
New legislation is being brought to Cabinet in Ireland today to outlaw the exploration of new gas and oil opportunities.
This is a significant step in reducing our global dependence on fossil fuels and moving towards carbon neutrality – something Ireland is hoping to achieve by 2050.
Existing Government policy means that a ban is already in place on such activities in Ireland, however including this within the law means that it cannot be overturned by future administrations.
